Abstract
A technique for 1-stage penile reconstruction is described in which several innnovations were introduced to improve the functional results. Two flexible rod penile prostheses are wrapped in synthetic mesh, which serves as a scaffold for the growing collagen fibers to replace the tunica albuginea. The proximal portions of the prostheses are placed in the corporeal stumps to provide added stability and the mesh-wrapped prostheses are covered with a scrotal flap. In patients who previously underwent a urethra-sparing penectomy the urethra is included in the reconstructed penis to provide a meatal location at the tip of the penis without the added risks of standard urethral reconstruction. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
