Abstract
Tetradecyl acetate reduces the catch of males of the pink bollworm, Pectinphora gossypiella (Saunders), when placed in traps baited with hexalure ( cis -7-hexadecenyl acetate), but it does not reduce their response to traps containing females which release the true sex pheromone of the species. Therefore, tetradecyl acetate cannot be used for disruption of P. gossypiella pheromone communication by the environmental permeation technique. Keywords
