Abstract
By means of gentle stimulation of the gastrointestinal tract, stigmonene bromide,** a new and comparatively nontoxic synthetic parasympathomimetic, was found effective in both preventing and eliminating abdominal distention due to (postoperative) intestinal atony in the majority of 100 major surgical cases. Keywords
