Abstract
THE report of the beneficial influence of Cortisone on the course of acute rheumatic fever1 prompted the trial of this hormone in the treatment of acute glomerulonephritis. This paper describes complete clinical and laboratory findings in a patient with acute glomerulonephritis who received 200 mg. of Cortisone daily for twelve days. Although renal function transiently improved, a definitely beneficial effect on the course of the disease was not demonstrated.MethodsMost of the procedures are described in another report.2 , 3 Additional methods included quantitative estimation of formed elements and of protein in the urine4; and serum and urine complement (alexin). . . .Keywords
