Abstract
This article provides an integrated assessment of literature about communication research on Hispanics and other ethnic groups within the context of assimilation and pluralism. It also presents a series of conceptual and methodological proposals for improving research on this subject. The communication researcher interested in this topic should find significant guidance for his or her works. Yet much pioneering work must still be done, particularly for understanding some of the specifications of the role of communication for ethnics' adaptation. Keywords
