Abstract
THE results of the treatment of acute and chronic cholecystitis at the Massachusetts General Hospital from 1943 to 1953 have been reported in two previous papers.1 , 2 Most patients who have symptoms from cholecystitis and cholelithiasis are relieved by cholecystectomy, accompanied by choledochostomy when indicated. A few have symptoms that continue or recur after a variable interval of good health.
