Abstract
SUMMARY: The free play of 109 children aged 3–1 was observed in 12 pre‐school centres and assessed according to a number of measures, in relation to the social class of the children and the educational orientation of the centre, Both effects were high significant. The findings are discussed in relation to pre‐School educational practice.Keywords
