Abstract
The scope of electroless nickel has been increased by codepositing materials such as silicon carbides, ceramics, diamonds and fluoropolymers. This is achieved by taking advantage of different but often complementary properties of nickel-phosphorus alloy and the particles. The paper describes an electroless nickel process for the deposition of a nickel-phosphorus-polytetrafluoroethylene composite deposit. The process makes use of a unique dispersion system to enable and keep the submicron PTFE particles in suspension. The paper reviews the deposit characteristics and discusses some of the applications in production use. Keywords
