Among the 179 siblings examined, primary hypertension occurred twice as frequently among those related to a hypertensive index than among those related to a normotensive index, whereas among 115 examined spouses there was no difference in the prevalence of hypertension among those married to a hypertensive as compared with those married to a normotensive. Among the 116 offspring examined, both of whose parents have been examined and classified only 9 have developed hypertension to date, 7 of these have at least one hypertensive parent. Keywords
