Abstract
Professional practice models provide decentralized approaches to nursing practice. The components of such a model should include a primary nursing delivery system, decentralized decision making, salary compensation, self-scheduling and quality circles. This article describes two of the key components of the model--salaried compensation and self-scheduling--on a unit in one agency. Keywords
