Vibrations of Triangular Viscoelastic Plates

Abstract
A method that was based on the concept of contour lines of equal deflection on the surface of the plate and developed for transverse vibration of viscoelastic plates is applied to the case of an equilateral triangular plate. Two equations are to be solved. The first is for the mode shapes and is solved using Galerkin's method for the first five mode shapes and elastic frequencies. The solution of the second equation, the time dependence equation, is given for impulsive loading of the plate of standard linear solid material for a range of values of the material constants. Some qualitative conclusions between the nature of the plate response and the material characteristics are drawn.
