Abstract
CELSIUS is a cooler storage ring under construction in Uppsala. It will be used for nuclear and particle physics with ions (up to A ≈ 100) with energies up to 470 MeV/nucleon as well as protons with energies up to 1360 MeV. An electron cooler with electron energies up to 300 keV and current of 2.8 A will be used to cool the stored particles. An experimental station including a cluster gas-jet target, a fiber target, and a common scattering chamber is being built. A hydrogen pellet target has been proposed by the WASA collaboration. Experiments have been proposed for a number of studies in light and heavy ion nuclear physics and in elementary particle physics. Keywords
