NEW ASSAY FOR THE O-ALKYL CLEAVAGE ENZYME WITH ALKYL-LYSOPHOSPHOLIPIDS AS SUBSTRATES

Abstract
The O-alkyl cleavage enzyme is important for the metabolism of cytotoxic alkyl-lysophospholipids [used in cancer therapy]. A simple new method for the determination of the enzyme activity was developed which is based on the formation of water-soluble phosphate during the enzyme reaction. This is the first assay which avoids the use of radiolabeled substrates.
