Abstract
We have investigated a close relationship between an extended ideal gas phenomenological (EIGP) and the Bethe ansatz (BA) approaches to the thermodynamics of integrable soliton-bearing systems. The EIGP is constructed by taking into account self-consistently the phase-shif effects due to interactions between the excitation modes, while the integral equations in the Yang-Yang BA theory are rewriten in terms of canonical momenta of the excitation modes. The resultant equations in these two approaches are shown to be formally equivalent. Keywords
