Inter-relationships in molybdenocene dimer chemistry: a convenient synthesis of bis-η-cyclopentadienyldichloromolybdenum

Abstract
The dimers [η-C5H5)2HMo{µ-(η1:η5-C5H4)}Mo(η-C5H5)] and [(η-C5H5)(CO)Mo-µ-(η5:η1-C5H4)Mo(Co)2(η-C5H5] have been prepared from [Mo2(O2CMe)4] and characterised by crystal structure determination; the former dimer reacts readily with aqueous hydrochloric acid forming the dichloro-monomer [Mo(η-C5H5)2Cl2].
