Abstract
We investigate the conditions under which Hirst's relaxation theory can be applied in a simple way to phonon relaxation processes (white spectrum approximation, high local symmetry). We then study the influence, on the Mössbauer lineshape, of the Orbach type relaxation processes, which involve real intermediate statesKeywords
