Abstract
COMMITTEE ON MATERNAL WELFAREFatal Laceration from Normal BirthSpontaneous pneumothorax during the first trimester of a first pregnancy was easily corrected by thoracostomy. Otherwise normal, the 23-year-old patient was delivered of a 3570-g infant 18 days after term and nine hours after labor began. A right mediolateral episiotomy was needed, but no forceps, and the third stage of 10 minutes ended uneventfully at 1:22 p.m. No lacerations were detected, the episiotomy was repaired, and the patient recovered from anesthesia in about 30 minutes.One hour post partum large blood clots were passed, oxytocin (Pitocin) was started intravenously, blood was . . .Keywords
