Abstract
Single, nonfebrile seizures are not epilepsy, and although they often cause a major psychic trauma to the family they do not necessarily require hospitalization, CT scanning, or extensive workup. Anticonvulsant treatment is not obligatory and should, if used, be individualized. Only 30% of tonic-clonic seizures will recur, and most children who do require therapy can have it discontinued after 2 years. Keywords
