Abstract
Thin foils of Al, Ag, Cu, Cu‐5 at.% Ge, Cu‐9.5 at.% Ge were cut with the ultramicrotome and investigated by transmission electron microscopy. High dislocation densities (>2×1011 cm−2) are introduced in all foils except Al. No extended stacking faults were ever observed. Twinning occurs in Ag, Cu, and Cu‐5 at.% Ge, but not in Cu‐9.5 at.% Ge alloys. These results are compared with findings from electrolytically thinned deformed foils. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
