Abstract
An InP/GaInAsP π-phase-shifted Mach-Zehnder modulator has been designed for wavelength independent propagation performance over the whole bandwidth of the erbium-doped fibre amplifier. A propagation distance of 133 km using a standard dispersive fibre has been bridged by modulating only one arm while keeping constant the low bias (–1.3 V) and peak-to-peak (2 V) voltages. Keywords
