EFFECT OF EJACULATION FREQUENCY AND BREED ON SEMEN CHARACTERISTICS AND SPERM OUTPUT OF RABBITS

Abstract
Six Dutch-type and 9 New Zealand White rabbits were each e-jaculated at frequencies of 1 x 12 hr., 1 x 24 hr. and 2 x 48 hr. Ejaculate volume and sperm concentration were lower (P<0.01) at 1 x 12 hr. than at either of the other 2 frequencies. Daily sperm output did not differ significantly among the 3 frequencies. Dutch-type rabbits had a significantly lower daily sperm output than New Zealand Whites.
