Improper ferroelectric phase transition in the crystal RbH 3 (SeO 3 ) 2

Abstract
The dependence of the equilibrium polarization of RbH3(SeO3) 2 as a function of electric field and temperature has been investigated in the vicinity of the improper ferroelectric phase transition. It is shown that experimental data confirm the thermodynamic theory: polarization of the nonpolar phase for different constant electric fields does not change up to the transition temperature, electric field does not blur the transition, double hysteresis loops observed in the nonpolar phase do not vanish as the temperature increases. The temperature dependence of the spontaneous polarization has been measured. The numerical values of some combinations of the coefficients of the thermodynamic potential have been evaluated.
