Abstract
The reaction between three epimeric tri-2-norbornylboranes and neutral 30% aqueous hydrogen peroxide at 25° has been investigated in the absence and presence of iodine and of carbon tetrachloride. Whereas norbornane, 2,2′-binorbornane, norbornyl iodide, and norbornyl chloride are produced through an intermediate norbornyl radical, the configuration of the norbornanol which is isolated suggests that it is formed largely by a polar process.
