Abstract
With the known relationship between defects in dark adaptation and vitamin A deficiency, liver disease and retinal degenerative changes, the development of a practical and simple test of dark adaptation has some importance. Standard dark adaptation testing instruments are somewhat impractical, expensive, and not generally available. Therefore a simple, inexpensive test for evaluation of dark adaptation is desirable. Using established standards of macular dark adaptation, a test was designed that appears to be relatively simple, reasonably accurate, and rapid. The test and equipment were described.
