Abstract
U.-v. inactivation and photoreactivation curves for bacteriophage T1 were obtained for the following conditions of the phage during u.-v. irradiation-dry, suspended in ammonium acetate soln., frozen in phosphate buffer and in ammonium acetate, suspended in varying concns. of ethanol, and adsorbed to the bacterial host cell, Escherichia coli B. Each of these conditions results in marked differences in the survival curves, provided only that the conditions exist at the time of u.-v. irradiation. Theoretical implications of these findings are to be published in a 2d section. Keywords
