Abstract
Plasma gastrin was measured in 12 Merino ewes and 35 lambs from 90 days gestation until 22 days postpartum. A significant linear increase in fetal gastrin during gestation reached a peak in the neonate 24 h after birth. Gastrin infusion into ewes caused a significant rise in gastrin concentration in maternal but not fetal circulation. Key words: Gastrin, sheep, fetus, neonate, eweKeywords
