Abstract
Lysozyme was added to samples from production lots of tetanus toxin using the Harvard strain of C. tetani and the most recent Mueller Medium. Lysozyme produced a visible effect in the form of lysis of the organisms as detd. by gross and microscopic examination. Studies in flocculation with lysozyme-treated and untreated cultures indicated that lysozyme had no effect on the Lf value; but it did decrease the time required to produce flocculation on the 1,2-, and 3-day cultures, although it had no effect on 4-,5-,and 6-day growths. The effect was apparently on the organisms themselves since treatment of the supernatant fluid yielded no changes. Keywords
