Adjustments in Maternal Blood Gases, Acid-Base Balance, and Oxygen Consumption in the Pregnant Pygmy Goat1

Abstract
Maternal blood gases (O2 and CO2), plasma pH, and oxygen consumption were studied during pregnancy in resting, unanesthetized Pygmy goats. Eight pregnant and nine nonpregnant animals were studied at 3-wk intervals, beginning before conception and continuing 6 wk postpartum.
