Abstract
Seventeen species of marine algae [Caulerpa peltata, C. sertularioides, Codium elongatum, Enteromorpha clathrata, Ulva fasciata, U. reticulata, Colpomenia sinuosa, Dictyopteris australis, Dictyota ssp., Padina tetrastromatica Sargassum tenerrimum, Spathoglossum asperum, Stoechospermum marginatum, Acanthophora specifera, Gracilaria corticata, G. verrucosa and Hypnea musciformis] collected from 5 localities of Goa, were analyzed for Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn, using atomic absorption spectrophotometer. All 7 metals showed considerable variations in their concentration. The role of different seaweeds as indicators of metal pollution is discussed in relation to the degree of accumulation of metals. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
