Abstract
Ten men with symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia underwent transurethral balloon dilatation under sedation and topical anesthesia. There were no complications. Relief of symptoms and an improvement in urine flow occurred in six men. Balloon dilatation was repeated in two of the four failures without effect. The mechanism of improvement in the successful cases is not clear. Keywords
