Abstract
Gastric ulcers were experimentally produced in hooded rats in a conflict situation where approach responses based on 47_hour hunger and thirst drives were in competition with avoidance responses based on shock. Control animals on 47-hour hunger and thirst drives did not show any evidence of ulceration. Possible interpretations were discussed. Keywords
