Abstract
The influence of a group of antihistaminic drugs on intestinal motility of rats was studied as determined by the rate of passage of carmine through the gut. Benadryl, Thephorin, Histadyl and Pyribenzamine were given in terms of millimoles per kg. per injn. It was observed that in comparable small doses Thephorin and Benadryl stimulate intestinal motility. In larger doses Antistine and Benadryl produce inhibition. Thus there is a reversal of the Benadryl effect depending on the dose. Keywords
