Abstract
Administration of estradiol 17-.beta., 3-benzoate to intact mature females rats resulted in increased activity of hepatic pyruvate carboxylase [EC 6.4.1.1] (PC), phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) and lactate dehydrogenase [EC 1.1.1.27] (LDH). The changes in PC and PEPCK are compatible with increased glycogenesis from alanine. Increased LDH activity suggests the possibility of increased Cori cycle capacity. Keywords
