Abstract
The current amplitudes in Werthamer's general expression for the current in Josephson tunnel junctions are investigated with the help of the proximity‐effect model developed for superconducting niobium tunnel junctions. Numerical calculations of these amplitudes as functions of frequency and temperature are presented for different systems forming the proximity electrode. In agreement with experiments marked differences can be stated between the proximity model and the commonly used standard BCS model also in the ac properties of the tunnel junction. Keywords
