The Young Child's Discrimination of Obliques

Abstract
The five-year old child, in common with other species, has difficulty in remembering the slope of an oblique stimulus, but not of a horizontal or vertical stimulus. Two experiments are described. The first shows that the relative difficulty with obliques is not caused by the child remembering orientation in relation to background features. The second shows that the five-year old can remember obliques, but that this memory is fragile.
