Granular Cell Myoblastoma of the Breast

Abstract
Granular cell myoblastoma is an uncommon tumor. More than 400 cases have been reported in the literature since its initial description by Abrikossoff in 1926. Granular cell myoblastoma of the female breast, however, must still be considered a rare tumor. Byrne and Deane5 in 1960 were able to collect 27 reported cases occurring in the skin, subcutaneous tissue, and glandular tissue of the breast. My review of the literature to date has yielded a total of 31 acceptable cases (Table 1), eliminating two cases reported by Klemperer19 which were not his own cases but reports of the cases of Abrikossoff and Meyer and one case reported by Cheatle and Cutler6 which was reported to be a xanthoma by microscopic study. The granular cell myoblastoma morphologically has been confused with the xanthoma, but, in view of the microscopic report of xanthoma in this case, it would seem better
