$A_{2} - A_{1}$ Interference Phase

Abstract

The

A_{2} - A_{1}

phase difference observed in

π^{-} p \to π^{+} π^{-} π^{-} p

is compared with the

{A_{2}}^{-}

phase from a Regge fit to the

\frac{d σ}{dt}

data for

{A_{2}}^{-}

and the

{A_{1}}^{-}

phase given by a Reggeized Deck model. The agreement (∼30°) depends crucially on the contribution of the Reggeized pion propagator to the

A_{1}

phase and requires equal signs for the

f

and

P

residues in the

A_{2}

amplitude.
