Relative Insensitivity of Rhesus Monkeys to the LH-Releasing Hormone (LH-RH)

Abstract
Natural and synthetic LH-RH was administered to rhesus monkeys at various stages of the menstrual cycle and to one ovariectomized monkey with or without pretreatment with estrogen. Intravenous injection of LH-RH in doses which caused a consistent elevation of peripheral LH in other species including man only occasionally increased serum LH in monkeys. These data suggest a relative insensitiveness of the rhesus monkey to exogenously administered LH-RH.
