Abstract
Mode conversion in a periodically perturbed thin‐film optical waveguide is studied in detail. Three different types of perturbations are considered: periodic index of refraction of the film, periodic index of refraction of the substrate, and periodic boundary. The applications in filters, mode converters, and distributed feedback lasers are discussed. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
