Abstract
This paper discusses the advantages and limitations of liquid crystal thermography for providing the information required for development of deterministic numerical models of nucleate boiling. Examples are given of studies of localized events that depend on the orientation of the heated wall, and of current work developing techniques to examine interactions between large groups of nucleation sites. Keywords
