Partial Immunologic Tolerance to the Human B but not to the A Antigen

Abstract
Quantitation of anti-A and anti-B isoantibodies in 472 selected children of the Tecumseh population has provided strong evidence that the A antigen of the mother does not induce any immunologic tolerance in her group-O children. Mean levels of hemolytic and saline anti-B, on the other hand, were lower in children of mothers with the B antigen than in children of mothers who lacked B, thus, indicating that the B antigen of the mother induces partial immunologic tolerance in her children.
