Abstract
Uredospores of Puccinia graminis var. tritici, race 15B, contain approximately 20% by weight of ether-extractable oil which was separated into fatty acid and unsaponifiable fractions. The latter contains a sterol which was isolated and identified as ergost-7-enol. An investigation of the carotenes has confirmed the presence of β - and γ-carotene as the major carotenoid components and further established the presence of the minor components, phytoene, lycopene, a cis-β-carotene, and a cis-γ-carotene.Keywords
