Measurement of the branching fraction forB−→D0K*−

Abstract

We present a measurement of the branching fraction for the decay

B^{-} \to D^{0} K^{* -}

using a sample of approximately

86 \times 10^{6}

B \bar{B}

pairs collected by the BABAR detector from

e^{+} e^{-}

collisions near the

Υ (4 S)

resonance. The

D^{0}

is detected through its decays to

K^{-} π^{+},

K^{-} π^{+} π^{0},

and

K^{-} π^{+} π^{-} π^{+},

and the

K^{* -}

through its decay to

K_{S}^{0} π^{-} .

We measure the branching fraction to be

B {(B}^{-} \to D^{0} K^{* -}) = [6.3 \pm 0.7 (stat) \pm 0.5 (syst)] \times 10^{- 4} .
