Abstract
The preparations are reported of some tetrahedral complexes of the types FeL2X2 and FeLX3 –(L = quinoline or 3-methylisoquinoline, X = Cl, Br, or I) and of the tetrahedral compound Fe(quinoline)2(NCS)2. Their electronic spectra in the near i.r. region have been examined and, for most of them, room temperature Mössbauer parameters and magnetic moments have been measured. Mössbauer studies have also been made on the compounds (Et4N)2FeCl4 and Fe(Ph3PO)2X2(X = Cl or Br). These results are discussed in terms of the distortions of the ligand fields from Td symmetry. I.r. data in the region 200–500 cm.–1 are given for the complexes with heterocyclic amines. Keywords
