Abstract
This review article looks at the development of confocal imaging technology, with emphasis on its abilities to overcome some of the problems of imaging life processes, particularly in the intact organ or animal. A brief summary of three promising micro-imaging modalities is provided (which are microscopical analogues of conventional radiological techniques) with a bibliography for the interested reader to pursue. Keywords
