Abstract
A scalar control method for an induction motor is described in which the dynamic response is enhanced by a feedforward decoupling network. The scalar control method is inherently simple and does not require intricate signal processing as in vector control methods. The parameters of the adaptive decoupler are solved by off-line computation and can be implemented by using a microcomputer. A preliminary control schemp using a voltage-fed PWM inverter bas been tested in the laboratory, but more investigation is needed to explore fully the potential of the method. The proposed control scheme is expected to give comparable or better performance than the conventional vector control methods.
