Organochlorinated Pesticides in Ciders

Abstract
A method was developed for extracting pesticides from ciders. Amounts of organochlorinated pesticides found in 17 brands of Quebec ciders varied from 0 to 0.10 ppb; γ-BHC, aldrin, and DDT were well below the acceptable daily intake values issued by FAO and WHO. Ciders fermented from gelatintreated apple juice contained less pesticides than ciders from untreated juice.
