Abstract
Ion orbits are followed in phase space by means of a new scheme of the optical tagging plasma diagnostic technique. An orbit distortion for ions interacting resonantly with an ion acoustic wave is clearly observed even in the low excitation regime, where the plasma response and the corresponding macroscopic fields exhibit linear behavior. Keywords
