Abstract
The effect of different commercially available proteins on reproduction in Musca domestica L. was investigated. Egg albumen, yeast hydrolysate, and defatted milk sustained good ovarian development, but several casein sources tested had little or no effect with wide variability among samples. Severe cholesterol contamination was found in one of the caseins tested. Conversion of casein to its sodium salt is very effective for reproduction studies when fed in a synthetic diet to adult house flies, and a modified diet for sustained viable egg production is reported. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
