Abstract
Measurements of attitude towards various South African ethnic groups were obtained for Afrikaans and English-speaking Whites, both before and after the early phase of the Soweto riots in 1976. Although the samples are not very large, a fairly clear pattern of results emerges. The riots had a negative effect on the attitudes of Afrikaans-speaking subjects towards Blocks, white English-speaking subjects showed positive attitude changes toward both Blocks and Coloureds. Keywords
